FAQs:
QOD MAX purchased on ebay from keratin4you.
Straightening comb is $6 from Sally Beauty. It’s the thing I used when flat ironing.
T3 Croc Infrared Flat Iron purchased from Amazon.
Steps:
1. Clarify thoroughly. Do not condition.
2. Blow dry with no additional product.
3. Apply Braizilian Keratin Treatment in small sections with a brush and gloves. 3 oz is sufficient for shoulder length hair.
4. Blow dry hair .
5. Flat iron hair on 450 degrees in small sections. Make 7-10 passes each sections. Do not make any curls or bends in the hair. Use discretion for your personal hair type. You know what your hair can take!
6. Do not wet hair for at least 48 hours after the initial treatment. This includes moisturizers! It’s best to not use any product for 4 days.
7. Do not use products with sulfates or sodium derivatives in them.
8. Enjoy healthier, fuller, stronger, easier to manage hair!
***This is not a relaxer. If you are natural, you will still be natural. You can relax and bkt the same day.
***Fine hair will be stick straight. If you don’t like that, your hair will regain fullness after the first wash. You will need less heat or passes.
What is BKT?
It’s a protein treatment. It’s coats and infuses the hair with protein increasing resiliency, shine, moisture retention, strength, manageability, and pliability. Google ‘brazilian keratin treatment’ for more information.
Is BKT safe?
This question is debatable. However, I’ve done my own research and I feel that it’s safe when properly applied.
Most companies use formaldehyde of varying concentrations in their formulas. It’s usually less than 4% which is truly not alot at all. However, I understand the concern so DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. (Sorry for caps!)
What products do I use?
I use different products. However, it’s recommended that you use the manufacturers shampoo and conditioner for best results. I’ve also heard Elucence is a quality naturally based brand that is more affordable and does a great job.
Can I just apply it to my new growth?
No, it must be applied from root to tip with each application for best results.

@hizzgurrl Thank …
@hizzgurrl Thank you! Yes, BKT is good for your hair otherwise I wouldn’t be using it! There is lots of info about it on the net by googling ‘brazilian keratin treatment’. They can explain it better than I can.
BKT doesn’t do anything for hair length. It’s a strengthening treatment that helps prevent breakage and frizzies while increasing manageability.

great video! Please tell me where did you get that comb gizmo that you use while flat ironing
@covegirl06 Yes …
@covegirl06 Yes there will be reversion. This is not permanent at all. It’s effects wash out like a temporary color rinse.
@covegirl06 Well, …
@covegirl06 Well, not your “natural” kinky texture, but you know what I mean.
@hair2toebeauty I …
@hair2toebeauty I guess u might have a point there, lol. Let’s say u just put the treatment in your hair, and then u got caught in rain about 2 weeks later. Would your hair go back to its natural kinky texture, like it would if u had a relaxer?
@covegirl06 I …
@covegirl06 I understand, but that’s the thing it’s not embalming fluid. Some brands contain a small amount of an ingredient in embalming fluid, which is formaldehyde. I believe the highest concentration in a BKT product is 4%. Most are under the 2% mark.
As I mentioned, if I haven’t burned a hole in my skull with relaxing my hair with sodium hydroxide that burns through our skin within 18 minutes, then my decision was that less than 2% concentration of formaldehyde won’t hurt me. Take care.
@hair2toebeauty LOL …
@hair2toebeauty LOL. Didn’t mean to come off like I was “yelling” at u. dont mean to sound like I’m attacking u, on your own video at that. This process is fairly new to me. And I’m a person who’s somewhat conscious about what I put in or on my body. Some ppl may not mind putting embalming fluid on their hair & scalp. Hell, some ppl smoke it. But I think everyone should have the right to know, or should at least wanna know what their putting on their skin. That’s it.
@covegirl06 Another …
@covegirl06 Another thing about labeling bkt “poison” that bothers me is disregarding relaxers. Relaxers permanently straighten hair,..forever. BKT washes out and is only straightened because of the flat ironing.
So, please before you YELL at me (by typing in caps) and attempt to misinform others doing research, please research objectively and completely.
@covegirl06 Also, …
@covegirl06 Also, my curl pattern has not straightened, my hair is just more manageable. My hair is not heat damaged because I take care of my hair and I know what it can take. Not all hair is in optimal condition or strong enough to withstand heat. Also, I only heat straighten every few months. So one straightening session every few months does not equal damage. I would assume that anyone who cares about their hair can observe it and its limitations.
@covegirl06 Some …
@covegirl06 Some treatments contain various amounts of formaldehyde. However, the treatment is called Brazilian Keratin Treatment due to its high protein concentration. If you have done thorough research you can find all of the ingredients.
QOD MAX: Cetyl alcohol, lanolin cetrimonium chloride, dimethicone, hydrolyzed collagen, hydrolyzed keratin, poliququaternium 7, methylparaben, proplyparaben, ci 77400, fragrane, theobroma cocoa extract, cyclopentasiloxane and dimethiconol, aqua.
@hair2toebeauty Omg …
@hair2toebeauty Omg, I did more research on this product. It’s not “protein”. It’s EMBALMING FLUID! You know, the stuff they use to preserve dead bodies? That’s why it stays straight longer than a relaxer. Once you’ve applied the embalming fluid (Oops! I mean, “protein”) and the 400 degree heat to your hair (which is VERY damaging in it self), you’re “preserving” that str8 hair pattern. Formeldahyde is the MAIN ingredient in embalming fluid. It’s not “protein”; its POISON!
@UniqueTrendz Not …
@UniqueTrendz Not sure if you’re worried about your hair being permanently straightened or just using chemicals. But any product that has the ability to alter the natural texture of your hair will contain some “chemicals”. There’s a reason pregnant women or women who are nursing are strongly cautioned NOT to use this product. This product is best suited for ppl with naturally straighter hair/ already DAMAGED hair.
Thank you so much. …
